No, you won’t turn orange! St. Tropez tanning products contain a green pigment to help counteract any orange tinge that develops.

The unique formulation in St. Tropez products work with your natural skin tone which ensures as your tan develops, it will only go as dark as your skin would naturally go if you were sun tanning.

Does St. Tropez smell?

The characteristic smell with most self tanning products doesn’t come from the product but from a chemical reaction on the skin

St. Tropez however is different from other self tanning products because we’ve developed Aromaguard™ which is a revolutionary fragrance technology that replaces the typical self tan aroma by a minimum of 70% with a soft, light, fresh-scented fragrance.

How does St. Tropez work?

St. Tropez product contain a unique formulation combining two completely safe and harmless ingredients that work in unison to provide a stunning natural colour that fades evenly and naturally too.

The first ingredient is dihydroxyacetone (or DHA) which is a colourless sugar which will interact with the amino acids naturally found in the surface layer of your skin which produces a temporary colour change – your tan!

This second ingredient is Erythrulose which is a naturally moisturising ingredient taken from raspberries and works in a similar way to DHA but developers slower over time. This slower development period gives you a smoother colour that will last longer and fade more evenly.

Can I get my St Tropez tan wet?

Do not wash, bathe, swim, shower or exercise while your tan is developing.

You can swim once your tan has developed but try to avoid swimming in the sea and chlorinated pools as this may result in your tan fading more quickly.

Is St. Tropez safe to use while pregnant?

Yes, St. Tropez is safe to use if you are pregnant.

The main tanning agent used in St. Tropez is called dihydroxyacetone which has been tested and contains no known toxicity.

St. Tropez only works by targeting only the upper layers of your skin and will not get into your bloodstream when applied as instructed.

If you are breastfeeding, do not apply St. Tropez to the breast area.

Will St. Tropez cover scars or stretch marks?

Yes. The best product to cover scars or stretch marks is St. Tropez Bronzing Lotion. Carefully apply the lotion to the area with a cotton bud and leave for at least 8 hours. Wash away this guide colouring and then apply your other tanning product all over your body as normal.

If your tan is not dark enough to completely disguise the stretch mark or scar, repeat every 8 hours until completely covered up.

Will my St. Tropez tan protect me from U.V. exposure?

No. St. Tropez does not act as a sunscreen and contains no sun filters. It is extremely important you still use a sun protection product with good levels of SPF if you are exposing your skin to the sun.

How long do I have to wait before I have a shower?

If you can, wait for at least 8 hours. Your St. Tropez tan will continue developing for up to 24 hours.

How long does a St. Tropez tan last?

Typically a St. Tropez tan will last between 2 – 10 days. The length of time varies based on a few factors such as your skin type and how you care for it.

To get the best results and longest lasting tan, we recommend using St. Tropez Body Moisuriser to nourish and condition your skin.

St. Tropez Body Polish can also be used every 2-3 days to help smooth and fade the tan evenly.

Is St. Tropez tested on animals?

This is my first time using St. Tropez. Is there anything I should be aware of?

We highly recommend you conduct a small patch test in a sensitive area such as your inner arm 24 hours before you plan on applying a full body application. This will ensure your skin does not react or is sensitive to any of the active ingredients.

What is the difference between the Self Tan and Gradual Tan ranges?

The St. Tropez Self Tan range provides a medium to full strength shade. You apply it to the skin and leave it to develop over a period of approximately 8 hours. The colour will last 2-10 days depending on your skin type and how you care for your tan.

The St. Tropez Gradual Tan range provides a gentle tan that can be built up to a medium or full strength shade when applied over a period of time. The Gradual Tan range takes a little longer but gives you the ability to choose your perfect shade of tan.

I think I’m allergic or sensitive to St. Tropez. What should I do?

Allergic reactions or sensitivity to St. Tropez products is extremely rare, but always ensure you seek medical advice. Always carry out a patch test 24 hours prior to application just to be sure you don’t have any sensitivity before you apply the product more thoroughly.

Will my tan streak or go patchy?

The St. Tropez Self Tan range contains a guide colour so you can see exactly where you’ve put it as you apply it.

Don’t worry about applying too much – only missed areas will give an uneven or patchy finish.

The St Tropez Everyday range doesn’t include a guide colour but will leave a wet sheen on your skin which makes it easy to see where you have applied the tan.

I keep reading about using a polish or moisturiser – do I have to use these products?

No – your self tan or gradual tan mousse, lotion or spray will do a fantastic job by itself.
